SUMMARY

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB stronghe job incumbent will be responsible for safely carrying out preventative maintenance and repairs on equipment in line with documented work instructions.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION REGARDING THE JOB
In this position, the job incumbent will be part of the Eng Sol Wet Team/ Engineering Department. At MMC, the Solution Preparation Section performs the value-add activities such as leaching; waste treatment horizontal and vertical filter presses in order to prepare the product for further downstream processing. The incumbent’s role is a key function to this team, as the person will be responsible for the smooth operation of the following equipment: Larox, Effluent plant filter presses, screw conveyors, pumps and conveyor belts.
The equipment operates on a 24hr/365day basis. Success in this role happens through effective utilisation of staff and equipment in the working environment. Steel structures, tank repairs (API 653) and safety related tasks will form part of your daily work. Work planning will be part of the duties and consist of regular shuts on equipment.

JOB OBJECTIVES
- Prioritise and perform the job as outlined in the work order and as per the detailed task list.
- Perform administrative activities.
- Complete Work Order on ONKEY with the correct time and all details to the required standard.
- Provide feedback and recommendations to the maintenance Supervisor/Foreman on short comings, defects, further maintenance required to restore equipment to original safe operating conditions and on any task where there is a difference between the task instructions and the job requirements.
- Perform maintenance related activities.
- Order consumables and request critical spares used.
- Investigate and diagnose problems and breakdowns.
- Conduct risk assessment before proceeding with maintenance activities.
- Carry out repairs and preventative maintenance work on equipment and prioritise maintenance activities according to production requirements.
- Carry out plant inspections and report on integrity and safety matters as required.
- Complete works order.
- Perform isolation and lockout, and issue lockout documents where applicable.
- Maintain a clean working environment
- Perform housekeeping duties.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- N3/Grade12 with Maths and Science
- Trade certification (Boilermaker)
- Minimum of 3-4 years’ post trade experience in Boilermaking.
- Computer Literacy (Basic)
- Driver’s Licence
