Mechanical Draughtsman
Our client, a well established leader in the steel component manufacturing industry, is seeking a skilled and detail oriented Mechanical Draughtsman to join their engineering team. This role is ideally suited to a technically strong individual with solid experience in design drafting, CNC programming, and manufacturing processes.
Responsibilities
• Use specialized software to create models and drawings of products
• Research and development of new products, methods and procedures
• Organize and maintain existing engineering records
• Construct prototypes and confirm designs with design/purchasing team
• Perform physical testing on engineering prototypes
• Develops manufacturing processes by designing and modifying equipment for fabricating, building, assembling, and installing components.
• To ensure timeous, economic, functional design output that conforms to specification and quality requirements together with safety and environmental considerations and meets customer / production satisfaction
• Ensure components and assemblies adhere to applicable industry and business standards
• Ongoing Value Engineering takes place.
• Feedback from internal and external customers is implemented in design.
• Ensure that all technical schedules are in place
• Design Plans are compiled timeously for approval and adhered to.
• Designs must comply with specifications, are accurate, relevant, cost effective, are within budget and on time.
• Creation, implementation, and revision of CNC programs for the various multi-axis, horizontal and vertical machines.
• Supporting current production and prototype projects while maintaining quality and safety standards.
• Works with engineering and supervisory personnel to trouble shoot and resolve design, tooling and operating difficulties
• Drafting and design drawing of tooling, and various product components.
• Provide production support by generating forging and rolling parameters to achieve customer specifications for products
• Ensure that tender concept drawings and bills of material are produced and compiled as directed.
• Provide training to all operators on how to develop new CNC programs.
Requirements
• Matric
• BEng Mechanical Engineering
• Manufacturing industry
• 3 years minimum experience in CNC programming
• CNC Machining experience (Speeds, feeds and sizes of cuts)
• Competent in 2D and 3D SolidWorks, Key Creator, eMastercam and FANUC
• Ability to read and interpret design blueprints
• Experience with computer modelling software.
