MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The job incumbent will Safely carry out preventive maintenance and repairs on equipment in line with documented work instructions. Execute improvements and projects on the whole plant and waste plants.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION REGARDING THE JOB
In this position, the job incumbent will be part of the Electrical Engineering team. At MMC, the Electrical Engineering team performs value-add activities of pro-active and re-active maintenance and repairs on all electrical equipment (220/380/525 volt and medium voltage 33kV) and installations to the required electrical engineering standards and specifications (SABS 0142). The job incumbent’s role is a key function to this team, as the person will be responsible for the smooth operation of the electrical equipment.

The majority of the equipment operates on a 24hr/365day basis and is dependent on the upstream section for supply of raw material. Success in this role happens when effective utilisation of staff and equipment takes place within the ever-changing environment of volume and quality variations.

JOB OBJECTIVES

• Prioritise and perform the job as outlined in the Work Order and as per the detailed Task List.
• Complete Work Order on ONKEY with the correct time and all details to the required standard.
• Provide feedback to the Maintenance Supervisor/Foreman on any task where there is a difference between the task instruction and the job requirements.
• Provide feedback and recommendations on short comings, defects and further maintenance required to restore equipment to original safe operating condition.
• Order consumables and request critical spares used.
• Investigate and diagnose problems and breakdowns.
• Conduct risk assessment before proceeding with maintenance activities.
• Carry out repairs, maintenance and preventative maintenance work on equipment
• Monitor the efficiency of maintained equipment and machinery.
• Effectively maintain toolkit.
• Maintain the rotable spares.

• Issue and obtain work permits as required.
• Isolate LV & MV equipment in MCCs.
• Prioritise maintenance activities according to production requirements where required.
• Carry out plant inspections, action shortcomings where possible & report on integrity and safety matters.
• Identify improvement possibilities and give feedback to the departmental foreman.
• Do VSD installation, setup, programming and changes.
• Execute electrical related project work plant wide, from initiation to final handover and keep related paperwork up to date.
• Maintain the securing of access to the high-risk area/items.
• Maintain a clean working environment.
• Complete log book for company vehicle.
• Keep company vehicle and company property clean.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS

• N3/Grade 12 with Maths and Science.
• Trade Certification (qualified Electrician).
• 3-4 years’ experience in electrical engineering heavy current, post qualification
• Computer literacy (Basic).
• VSD (Variable Speed Drive) programming.
• Code 8 driver’s licence.
